I hold a Master's Degree in Education and have over 30 years of hands-on experience in Special Education, helping students achieve their educational goals. My extensive background includes co-teaching and collaborative teaching, where I develop and implement strategies for instruction in inclusive settings, focusing on IEPs (Individual Education Plans) and FBAs (Functional Behavioral Assessments).

I specialize in behavior management and social skills development for students with Emotional Disturbances and Autism. I am skilled in writing and implementing IEPs and other Special Education documents. My experience also equips me to understand students' educational needs and facilitate meetings with parents and outside agencies for effective collaboration.

On a personal note, I am a wife and a mother of two teenage boys who attend Mount Lebanon High School. I enjoy cooking, sports, and coaching, and I am passionate about teaching children and helping parents understand their educational rights.

To make the most of study hour, students are encouraged to support one another in both individual and group settings. A teacher will be available throughout the session to offer guidance, answer questions, and help facilitate these strategies:

  • Accountability Partnerships: Pair up at the beginning of each week to check in on each other’s progress during study hour. This can help keep goals on track and motivation high.

  • Task Prioritization: Work together to break down big assignments into smaller, manageable tasks. This is especially helpful for long-term projects or studying for major assessments. The teacher can assist with planning and setting achievable milestones.

  • Study Tips Sharing: Exchange helpful strategies for studying, organizing tasks, or managing time more effectively. Both peer suggestions and teacher recommendations are welcome.

  • Positive Reinforcement: Celebrate each other's small wins—like completing a difficult assignment or staying focused for the full session. Encouragement builds momentum.

This approach allows students to focus on their personal goals while staying connected and supported within a collaborative environment. Whether working one-on-one, in small groups, or independently, everyone has access to teacher support and peer encouragement, motivated and accountable!
